Earthquake and tsunami alarm Pacific

In the western Pacific Ocean has a strong earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale occurred.

In Vanuatu, New Caledonia and the Fiji islands in Oceania is atsunami alert that has now been withdrawn. That, the U.S. PacificTsunami Warning Center said Saturday.
A tsunami with waves of 15 feet above normal sea rolled in the night from Saturday to Sunday towards the islands.

The tsunami was caused by an earthquake measuring 7.3 on theRichter scale just after midnight (local time) occurred. Theepicenter was at 33 km depth in Vanuatu.
A tsunami can result in devastating tidal waves when the tsunamicomes ashore. The island groups with approximately 1.5 millioninhabitants are not far above sea level.
